Be Careful What You Wish For

Mom said she wished I'd add more pictures to the blog. Does that mean pictures of her with bad haircuts as a child? Sure, why not?

Isn't she adorable?

LIZ-
OH can I sympathize with the requirement to drink all that water and to EAT, EAT, EAT.

Our brain understands the need, but no one else seems to understand the obsctacles that are preventing us from carrying out the order.

Gary used to get so frustrated because I was not consuming enough food and protein to give my body the fuel it needed to counter the chemo and to fight the cancer.

I was trying so hard and finally explained that it was like a funnel. You can fill the top with a lot but in the end it all has to go through the narrow part.

I also share your reaction to odors. I hated the smell of coffee in the house. And people smelled funny. My husband, the nurses, the radiation technicians... it was awful.

The good news is: It goes away. I am past a lot of those funny drug side effects.

I also understand the conflict between wanting peace and quiet and the apprehension of being alone and perhaps misinterpreting a signal our body is sending. Or even the separation away from the care givers.

That too will pass. It's a journey and one we have never been prepared for or told about. we are used to controlling our environment and our lives and now we are in unknown territory.

So hang in there. You are making real progress. Our full time job is to get our bodies to heal themselves while we attempt to keep occupied and stimulated with a few of things that used to consume our lives.

I'm there with you, wishin you better gimes.
