Mom has been home since about 4pm. It took a while for her to be discharged because she kept throwing up, thanks to a double dose of narcotics. The nurse's thought process was to give her the highest dose ordered so it would get to her faster? Not quite sure I think people like that should be practicing...but it's done and over with, and she's no longer hallucinating or vomiting. Bonus.
I talked to her about an hour ago, and she was in the midst of her first real pain attack since being home. She'd taken her anti-nausea a half hour before the narcotic, and hopefully is resting comfortably now. I really try to hold back on how many times I call the house to check it, but it's hard not to. I just have to assume that no news means they're getting along just fine without me!
Oh yes- and before Mom was discharged, she was delivered a staggering 25 email messages through the St. Francis web page! She couldn't believe it! They made her so happy. Now you just have to harness that creative energy and post comments on the blog here, but this is all she's up to reading these days. Thank you so much to everyone who wrote one :)

Hurling at home is soso much more fun than hurling in a hospital. Welcome Home Mamasam!!!
LoveYou a lot.
And by the way....Jennifer Lopez and J Lo are the same person; and I truly believe that their sister is Rachel Rae....but you did not hear that from me.
I am soso happy you're home. Lovedad.
Welcome home Liz!! Sorry you've had a rough night, but I have to agree with your Dad (clearly where the hysterically funny streak in the family comes from, btw) on the hurling. Nothing beats hurling in the comfort of your own bed and toilet :)
Hang in there sweetie!!
Huge hugs and tons of luv,
Lissa
Okay now i see we have abandoned the poop talk and it is all about vomit now!! The thing i hate about hurling in the hospital is the pathetic little dish they give you to do it in!! I want a waste basket!! Anyway Im glad you are home again in the comfort of your own bed! The key word being comfort...that is my wish for you! I hope you are able to stay home for the rest of the year!! Welcome Home Liz :) Better days are coming :) Lynn
Welcome home Liz! You've been on a hell of a roller coaster ride since the surgery. Hope to talk to you soon.
MamasanMamasanMamasan....In less than twenty-four hours your home will be invaded by two munchkin creatures! The Gwenster and the Merlika!!!! You know why they're so great? Huh?
....Because you are!
Looooooooovedad.
I'm glad your home and resting, hope your feeling better. miss ya lots of hugs. hope to see you soon.
Thinking of you Liz! Be strong.
Liz....here's an upate on Casey:
I took him to the vet and got him on meds for his bad arthritis. It was so bad he was limping. He's better now and has to be on meds for awhile. I bathed him, brushed him, and put a blanket over him while sleeping the past few nights. I hate to tell you this but I don't want to give him back :)
Love,
Jen
Jen -- you're absolutely wonderful.
Now this following part of the note is just for Jen and Casey....nobody else can read anything in-between the ()
(Jen....Don't let Casey sit through an entire movie while lying on your bed in just one position...make him move at least once -- make him reach for the popcorn sometimes. I talked to Elisabeth last night! I did! Honest....Seriously. Tell Casey she is soso getting back to normal -- she even put me on hold! YepThat'sRight -- she's even back to using things like "Hold that thought...I'll be right back," and "Whoops! Wait! Give me a sec."
The Woman sounded and looked terrific!)
Don't let Casey watch The Wizard of Oz....the flying monkeys can give him nightmares. And you need to take in Gwennie Friday evening after she gets her wisdom teeth taken out....and don't let Gwennie watch The Wizard of Oz either -- and if Gwennie is at your house you'll probably inherit Monica as well.
Go buy some more blankets....and four pairs of fuzzy slippers; two sets for Casey and one set each for the Gwenster and Merle.
Dear Babette - so glad you are back at home and hopefully you will be feeling much much better with all your wonderful family around to pamper you. You are constantly on my mind. I send much love and just want you to know candles were lit in the German cathedrals! Janie
Another voice from the peanut gallery--thrilled that you're home!
Love,
Jane
Good news that you are home again. And I have good news. Please, don't let this message make you toss your cookies. I have some time to come up and bring you some food. You even have choices, and it's all hormone and antibiotic free, free range stuff. Would you care for Stuffed chicken (with either ricotta and cheese, broccoli and cheese, cordon bleu, or cranberries and walnuts), or shrimp, or chicken pot pies, or porterhouse steak? I can also provide bland stuff like scrambled eggs, cream of wheat, oatmeal, saltines, or light toast and tea if that's all you want. Or a salad with Vinaigrette Erique. Whatever you need. Just let me know. Waiting to hear from Mom now, if she can come too to help out for a day and see you, Didi and Bernard at the same time.
Love,
Claire
Thanks, "Dad". I'll take your advice and not watch, "The Wizard of Oz" with Casey. We did watch "Evan Almighty" together on Sat. and he was amused to see all of the animals entering the ark 2 by 2. He has specifically requesting "The Lion King" for tonight.
Casey is too old to get on the bed with his bad arthritis. He sleeps on his doggy bed on the floor. Is it okay if I have Gwennie & Monica sleep on the floor next to him? Not to worry. I have extra blankets & socks for Gwennie & Monica.
P.S. It does sound like Liz is starting to get back to her old self. My favorite is when I ask her a question, 5-6 minutes go by with no response, then she answers my question as though I'd just asked it.
