To the surprise and amusement of the 2nd floor oncology staff, I have managed to hold on to my hair. The looks of my white bathroom floor indicate otherwise, but it’s an imperceptible loss so far. I attribute it to my strong constitution and obviously good roots (pun intended!)
Just look at the evidence...

My Guerlain grandfather and grandmother. Note "good hair."
My mother. And amazing hair.
My 7 siblings. Not a balding one.
And finally, my dad. With special hair. Still he's 81!

Can we get a picture of Papa's flower child hair at Christmas time? There's no better proof of our "good roots" than the fact that he, a man about 60 years older than me, had longer hair than I did.
I am obviously not a Guerlain -- a) I don't have a lot of hair, and b) I do not smell good.
The good news is that barbers at the local "Salons de Tonsorial" always give me at least a fifty percent discount or the "Kids' price;" which also entitles me to a free popalolly.
Gwennie or Monica -- if either of you respond to this specific blog of mine your asses-are-grass and I'm the lawnmower. Lovedad.
My lips are sealed. After all, Gwennie doesn't smell good and I had hair similar to Tito Jackson's circa 1978 for the better part of middle school.
Ah, but what hair it was Moe. It almost matched the stringy oh-so-mod bangs that plastered to my head. Oh yes, they were amazing.
Well, it must be in the genes. The problem is, I'm probably losing more hair than Babette, and I'm not going through chemo! I get it from my dad's side! And it's not fair! My brother has more hair than I do. What's wrong with that picture?
I stopped to see Babette on Sunday, and the first thing I had to say to her was "You look fantastic!!!!" And she does. And she is.
Love ya!
Claire
It's GREAT to see you posting your own updates, Liz!!!
The picture of your mother in front of that surreal scenery is the stuff movies are made of - beautiful!
We should add a photo of Papa when he had his blond "Le Petit Prince" haircut and outfit as a young child. Perhaps one of the Stancioffs can find one in the photo albums in the Rockport living room, scan it and send it to Monica?
As of yesterday, Liz still has her own hair, and as of today, she marks the halfway point of her four three-week cycles of chemo. I believe that means no chemo today. YEAH! The staff expected her to lose her hair in 17 days, tops. It's been 35 days!!! Remarkable. Extraordinary, everyday!
HAIR's to you Babette - I raise my glass - a glass of prune juice, of course, for those with not-so-strong constitutions!
Love you always,
Michou
